Christian Appalachian Project - Camp Andrew Jackson, a wilderness retreat, summer camp and educational center, nestled at the end of a hollow in rural Jackson County, Kentucky offers a mega dose of outdoor activities for youngsters from surrounding counties. Camp Andrew Jackson is a program of the Christian Appalachian Project, a non-profit, inter-denominational service organization, which seeks to help the people of Appalachia help themselves, through education, crisis intervention and community development. Whether it is navigating a climbing wall, competing in a swimming race, or tye-dying a t-shirt, Camp A.J. has an activity sure to make everyone a happy camper. Beginning in June and running through August, each week of camp is filled with fun, and adventure. Campers come for five days during a designated week to learn new skills, to make new friends, and to experience the beauty of the outdoors. Each week of camping is specially designed to empower campers to understand and feel good about who they are and who they want to be. Activities include: swimming, paddle boating, sports, canoeing, bible study, arts & crafts, group building, campfires, singing, values building and much more. Camp Andrew Jackson is accepting summer camp applications for the following weeks, July 9-13, July 16-20, 23-27 and July 30-August 3. Summer camp is available to children and youth throughout southeastern Kentucky.
